Do I need batteries for these scales?

No, these are mechanical spring scales and do not require batteries for operation.

How should I store the scales?

Troubleshooting

The scale needle does not start at zero

Use the calibration/adjustment knob on the scale to manually reset the needle to the zero mark before attaching your sling.

The weight reading seems inconsistent

Ensure the scale is hanging perfectly vertical and is not being touched by the tripod legs or other objects during the weighing process.

Stiff movement in the internal mechanism

Check the stainless steel hook for debris or dried silt; clean gently with a cloth and ensure the hook swings freely.

Pros and Cons

Pros

High weight capacity suitable for large specimen carp
Dual-scale display simplifies conversion between LB and KG
Durable stainless steel hook and attachment points
Compact and lightweight for easy transport
Reliable performance in varied weather conditions

Cons

Mechanical design requires periodic accuracy checks
Does not feature a digital backlight for night fishing
Requires manual adjustment if the zero point drifts

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To set up your scales, simply attach the hanging point to a stable weigh tripod or a reliable branch. Before weighing your catch, ensure the needle is aligned exactly at zero; if it has shifted, use the adjustment knob to reset it. These scales are compatible with all standard weigh slings currently on the market. Regarding care, wipe down the unit with a soft, damp cloth after each use to remove dirt, mud, or fish slime. If the scales are used in heavy rain, allow them to air dry completely before storing them in a pouch to prevent long-term wear on the internal spring mechanism. It is recommended to store them in the Cult DPM Scales Pouch to protect the dial from accidental impact.
