The HAY Backflip Folding Chair, designed by Gudmundur Ludvik, is an ideal seating solution for those living in compact spaces who refuse to sacrifice design for utility. It offers the rare combination of a high-quality solid wood aesthetic with an intuitive, one-handed folding mechanism, making it perfect for hosting extra guests in minimalist homes. However, because it is a folding chair with a specific mechanical design, it is best suited for indoor use and requires mindful handling to maintain its finish and functional integrity.

Yes, in addition to Grey, the chair is available in Cream, Blue, and Beige.
Ensure that the hinge points are free of dust or debris. Gently wipe the mechanism and ensure no obstructions are caught in the folding path.
Check if the floor is level and ensure the chair is fully unfolded and locked into its seat position. If it persists, inspect the feet for any uneven wear.
No assembly is required for the HAY Backflip Folding Chair; it is ready to use straight out of the box. To maintain the chair, keep it in a dry, indoor environment to prevent the wood from warping or the finish from degrading. To clean, use a soft, dry cloth to remove dust. If a deeper cleaning is necessary, use a damp cloth with a mild, non-abrasive soap, and immediately wipe the surface dry to ensure no moisture lingers on the wood. Avoid using harsh chemical cleaners, as these can strip the finish.
