FAQs

Are these screws suitable for use near the coast?

These are A2-304 stainless steel. While they offer excellent general corrosion resistance, they are not intended for direct marine or high-saline coastal environments. For those areas, A4-316 stainless is recommended.

Do I need to drill a pilot hole?

It is highly recommended, especially when working with hardwood or thin sections of wood, to avoid splitting the material.

What does 'Pozi' head mean?

Pozi (Pozidriv) is an improvement on the standard Phillips drive, offering a more secure grip and reducing the likelihood of the driver bit slipping out (cam-out) during installation.

Are these screws magnetic?

A2-304 stainless steel may exhibit very slight magnetic properties due to the manufacturing process, but this does not affect their corrosion resistance or mechanical strength.

How many screws are in a pack?

Each box contains 200 individual screws.

Troubleshooting

Screw head stripping

Ensure you are using the correct size Pozi drive bit and apply consistent, firm downward pressure while driving.

Wood splitting during insertion

Always pre-drill a pilot hole, especially when driving screws near the edge of a board or into dense hardwoods.

Screw snapping in place

Reduce torque settings on your drill or use a lubricant like wax or soap on the threads before driving into dense timber.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • High corrosion resistance thanks to A2-304 stainless steel
  • Countersunk design provides a seamless, flush finish
  • Compliant with international DIN 7997 standards
  • Enhanced grip prevents bit slippage during high-torque applications

Cons

  • Stainless steel may be softer than hardened carbon steel screws
  • Requires pilot holes in harder timber species to prevent splitting
  • Limited to 25mm length which may be too short for heavy structural work

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To install, ensure your power driver or hand screwdriver is equipped with a compatible Pozi drive bit. For long-term performance, avoid using carbon steel drill bits when creating pilot holes in the same wood, as cross-contamination of metal particles can lead to surface rust. While A2-304 steel is highly durable, it should not be used in marine or heavy-salt environments, where A4 (316) stainless steel would be required instead. Keep the box in a dry area to prevent dust or moisture accumulation on the threads.
