Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Preparation: Clear the area of existing weeds or pests.
- Placement: Lay the Veggiemesh directly over your plants or use garden hoops, cloches, or cages to create a supportive structure.
- Securing: Ensure the netting is taut but has enough slack to allow for plant growth. Secure the edges firmly using netting pegs, stones, or by burying the edges slightly into the soil to prevent pests from crawling underneath.
- Pollination Consideration: For fruiting plants that require insect pollination (e.g., bees), temporarily lift or remove the netting during the flowering stage to allow pollinators access. Reapply once flowering has passed.
Compatibility:
Veggiemesh is compatible with most common garden vegetables and fruits. It is particularly recommended for brassicas, carrots, leeks, onions, peas, salads, and seedlings. For smaller pests like flea beetles or whitefly, Veggiemesh Ultrafine is a more suitable option.
Care:
- Cleaning: Gently brush off loose soil or debris. If a deeper clean is required, rinse with clean water and allow to air dry completely before storing.
- Storage: Store in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight to prolong its lifespan. Avoid sharp objects that could damage the mesh.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect the netting for any tears or damage and repair them promptly to maintain its effectiveness.
