FAQs

Are these shorts true to size?

Yes, they feature a standard regular fit, but we recommend checking the size guide to match your specific waist and hip measurements.

Can I use these for swimming?

While they are quick-drying and water-resistant, they are designed as technical apparel rather than dedicated swimwear.

What does Bluesign approved mean?

It means the product was manufactured in a way that minimizes environmental impact by eliminating harmful substances from the supply chain.

Do the pockets have drainage holes?

The pockets are designed to be lightweight and breathable; however, they are not specifically configured as mesh-drainage pockets.

How do I ensure the UPF protection stays effective?

The UPF 50+ protection is woven into the fibers themselves, meaning it will not wash out over time like topical coatings.

Troubleshooting

Zipper feels stiff or stuck

Check for fabric caught in the teeth and gently work it free. Applying a small amount of graphite or dry lubricant to the zipper track can improve movement.

Fabric holds moisture longer than expected

This often occurs if fabric softener was used in the wash. Run an extra rinse cycle or wash without detergent to strip the coating and restore the quick-dry function.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Excellent moisture-wicking and quick-drying capabilities
  • Reinforced gusset improves comfort and range of motion
  • Reliable, high-quality YKK zipper hardware
  • Effective sun protection for outdoor activities
  • Durable yet lightweight ripstop fabric

Cons

  • Regular fit may be less tailored than slim-fit alternatives
  • Limited to polyester material, which may hold odors longer than natural fibers
  • Limited color availability depending on seasonal stock

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure the longevity of your Helly Hansen Quick-Dry Cargo Shorts, follow these care guidelines:

  1. Washing: Machine wash on a gentle cycle with like colors using mild detergent. Avoid fabric softeners as they can interfere with the quick-dry performance.
  2. Drying: Tumble dry on low heat or, ideally, hang dry in a well-ventilated area. The quick-dry fabric allows for efficient air drying.
  3. Ironing: Use a cool iron if necessary, though the ripstop fabric is largely wrinkle-resistant.
  4. Storage: Ensure the shorts are completely dry before storing them for long periods to prevent mildew growth.
  5. Fit: The regular fit allows for comfortable layering over swimwear if desired, or can be worn as a standard pair of shorts for everyday casual wear.
