Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Upon receiving your Karrimor Hot Rock Walking Boots, take some time to ensure a proper fit. Wear the type of socks you typically use for hiking. Lace the boots firmly from the toe upwards, ensuring the classic lacing system provides an even, snug feel without being overly tight. Walk around indoors for a bit to get accustomed to the feel. A break-in period on shorter walks before embarking on longer treks is highly recommended to mold the boots to your feet and prevent discomfort.
Compatibility
These boots are primarily designed for trail adventures, ranging from light walks to more challenging hikes on varied terrain. Their waterproof lining makes them suitable for damp conditions, and the Dynagrip outsole provides excellent traction on surfaces like dirt, gravel, mud, and uneven rocky paths. They are suitable for most three-season hiking (spring, summer, autumn) but may not offer sufficient insulation for extreme winter conditions or technical mountaineering.
Care Instructions
Proper care will extend the lifespan and maintain the performance of your Karrimor Hot Rock Walking Boots:
- Cleaning: Wipe clean the exterior of the boots with a damp cloth to remove dirt and mud after each use.
- Drying: Allow the boots to air dry naturally in a well-ventilated area. Remove the insoles and loosen laces to promote airflow. Avoid direct heat sources like radiators or campfires, as this can damage materials and adhesives.
- Waterproofing: Periodically re-treat the outer material with a suitable waterproofing spray or wax, especially after heavy use, to maintain the effectiveness of the integrated waterproof lining.
- Avoid Machine Washing: Do not machine wash your boots, as this can damage the waterproof membrane, adhesives, and overall structure.
