Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup
Upon receiving your dress, gently unpack it. Satin is susceptible to creasing during transit. Allow the dress to hang freely for 24-48 hours in a well-ventilated area. For stubborn wrinkles, use a garment steamer on a low setting or hang the dress in a steamy bathroom (not directly in steam) to gently release creases. Avoid direct, hot ironing which can damage the satin fabric.
Compatibility
- Footwear: Best paired with heels (strappy, block, or stilettos) to complement the maxi length and prevent the dress from dragging. Avoid flats unless the dress is specifically hemmed.
- Outerwear: For cooler conditions, consider a delicate shawl, a faux fur stole, or a tailored, open-front blazer that does not compete with the one-shoulder design.
- Accessories: Compatible with understated jewellery, small clutches, and elegant hair accessories. Avoid anything with sharp edges or abrasive textures that could snag the delicate satin fabric.
Care Instructions
Proper care is essential to preserve the luxurious look and feel of your satin dress.
- Washing:
- Hand wash recommended: Use cold water with a mild detergent specifically formulated for delicate fabrics. Gently swirl the dress in the water, avoiding harsh rubbing, wringing, or twisting.
- Machine wash (if permitted): If the care label explicitly allows, use a delicate cycle with cold water and always place the dress in a mesh laundry bag to protect it.
- Drying:
- Air dry: Lay flat on a clean, dry towel or hang on a padded hanger away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Satin dries relatively quickly.
- Avoid machine drying: High heat can damage satin fibers, leading to shrinking, dullness, or permanent creasing.
- Storage:
- Store the dress on a padded hanger to prevent creases or marks on the shoulders.
- Keep it in a breathable garment bag to protect it from dust, snags, and environmental factors.
- Avoid tightly folding the dress for extended periods to minimize severe creasing.
- Stain Removal: Act quickly to blot spills gently with a clean, damp cloth. Avoid harsh rubbing, which can set stains or damage the fabric. Consult a professional cleaner for stubborn stains.
