Full details
This guide is for adult males seeking a stylish and high-performance trainer with enhanced cushioning and support. The key benefit is the superior shock absorption and stability provided by its advanced sole unit. A potential caveat is the unique bungee lace closure, which may require adjustment for some users. The New Balance 2002R Protection Pack Eclipse in Blue combines elements of the 2002 and 860 models with a rugged, trail-inspired design. It features durable nubuck leather and mesh uppers, ABZORB midsole with N-ergy and ABZORB SBS heel cushioning for comfort and stability, and a Stability Web outsole for arch support. An adjustable bungee lace closure and spare rope laces offer a customized fit.

FAQs
What makes the ABZORB midsole beneficial?
The ABZORB midsole is designed to absorb impact by combining cushioning and compression resistance, which helps reduce stress on your feet and provides lasting comfort.
Are these shoes suitable for running?
While they offer excellent cushioning and support, the 2002R Protection Pack is primarily designed for lifestyle wear, walking, and light athletic activities. For serious running, dedicated running shoes might be more appropriate.
How do I clean the nubuck leather and mesh upper?
Use a soft brush or a slightly damp cloth to clean the upper. Avoid harsh chemicals and machine washing. Allow to air dry naturally.
What is the purpose of the Stability Web outsole technology?
The Stability Web technology provides added arch support, enhancing the overall stability of the shoe and your foot during wear.
Can I replace the bungee laces with regular laces?
Yes, the trainers come with a pair of spare rope laces that can be used to replace the bungee closure for a more traditional lacing system.
What is the difference between this and other New Balance 2002R models?
The Protection Pack series, like the 'Eclipse' variant, often features a more rugged, deconstructed aesthetic with layered materials, distinct from the smoother designs of other 2002R models, while maintaining the core cushioning technology.
Troubleshooting
Bungee laces not staying tight
Ensure the toggle is fully engaged. If the bungee cord shows signs of wear, consider replacing it with the spare rope laces.
Uneven wear on the sole
This could indicate an issue with gait or stride. Consult the product information on stability features or consider professional advice if persistent.
Discomfort after prolonged wear
Ensure the correct size is being worn and the bungee laces are adjusted for optimal comfort and support. Break-in periods may vary.

It also includes a pair of spare rope laces, allowing you to switch to a traditional lacing style if preferred. To adjust the bungee laces, simply pull the toggle to tighten and press the sides of the toggle to loosen.
Compatibility: These trainers are designed for adult males and are suitable for casual wear, walking, and light athletic activities. They are compatible with standard athletic socks.
Care: To maintain the condition of your 2002R Protection Pack trainers, it is recommended to clean the nubuck leather and mesh upper with a soft brush or a slightly damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or machine washing, as this can damage the materials and construction. Allow the shoes to air dry naturally away from direct heat sources. For the rubber outsole, a damp cloth can be used to remove dirt and debris.
