Osmo UV-Protection Oil is designed for homeowners and DIY enthusiasts looking to safeguard their exterior wood surfaces from sun damage and weathering. Its key benefit is providing durable, long-lasting protection that resists fading, peeling, and flaking, while enhancing the wood's natural beauty. A caveat is that it requires specific temperature conditions for ideal application.

The approximate coverage is 18m²/L with one coat. This means a 2.5L can can cover approximately 45m² with one coat, or 22.5m² with two coats.
The ideal application temperature is between +10°C and +35°C.
The drying time is approximately 12 hours between coats.
While primarily designed for exterior use, it can be used on interior wood if extra UV protection is desired, but ensure good ventilation during application and drying.
Clean with mild soap and water. Reapplication may be needed every few years depending on wear and environmental exposure.
Osmo UV-Protection Oil is available in clear and tinted versions. The clear maintains the natural look, while tinted versions enhance and protect the wood with color.
Clean the surface thoroughly. If the previous finish is intact, you can often apply a new coat directly. If there are signs of wear or degradation, light sanding might be necessary before recoating.
Ensure the oil was applied thinly and evenly. Work along the wood grain. If dry, lightly sand the affected area and reapply a thin coat.
Check that the application temperature was within the recommended range (+10°C to 35°C) and that humidity levels are not excessively high. Ensure adequate ventilation.
A second coat may be required for deeper color enhancement and protection. Ensure the first coat was fully dry before applying the second.
The surface may require another coat of oil for optimal water repellency. Reapply as per instructions.
Preparation: Ensure the wood surface is clean, dry, and free from dust, dirt, grease, and old finishes. Lightly sand rough surfaces if necessary.
Application: Apply thinly and evenly with a natural bristle brush, pad applicator, or roller. Maintain the ideal application temperature between +10°C and +35°C. Allow approximately 12 hours for drying between coats. Two coats are generally recommended.
Compatibility: Suitable for most exterior wood types, including hardwoods and softwoods, commonly used for furniture, decks, fences, and cladding. Not recommended for direct food contact surfaces.
Care: Clean surfaces with mild soap and water. For stubborn dirt, use a specialized wood cleaner. Reapplication may be necessary every few years depending on exposure and wear, following the same application process.
