Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup and First Use
- Lacing: Ensure your boots are laced securely but not overly tight. Utilize the padded ankle collar for guidance to achieve an optimal and comfortable fit.
- Break-in Period: A short break-in period is highly recommended. Wear your new boots for shorter walks or around the house before embarking on longer treks to allow them to conform to your feet, which helps prevent discomfort and blisters.
Compatibility
These boots are specifically designed for adult male hikers and walkers. For optimal comfort and moisture management, they pair well with high-quality hiking socks made from materials like merino wool or synthetic blends, which help wick away sweat and prevent chafing.
Care Instructions
- Cleaning: After each use, remove loose dirt and debris with a soft brush or a damp cloth. For more stubborn dirt or mud, use a specialized boot cleaner that is safe for leather and textile materials.
- Drying: Always allow your boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct heat sources such as radiators, fires, or direct sunlight, as excessive heat can damage the leather, adhesives, and the waterproof membrane.
- Waterproofing Maintenance: To maintain the effectiveness of the Weathertite membrane and the outer DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating, periodically clean the boots and re-apply a suitable waterproofing treatment designed for leather and textile footwear.
- Storage: Store your boots in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area when not in use. Avoid storing them in damp or confined spaces, which can promote mildew or material degradation.
