Product Information

Full details

This Frenchic Clay Pot Wall Paint in Brown is ideal for homeowners seeking a sophisticated, earthy tone for interior walls and ceilings. Its key benefit is an ultra-matte, scrubbable finish that requires minimal preparation due to its self-priming and self-sealing properties. A potential caveat is that while suitable for various surfaces, it's best avoided in very wet areas like shower surrounds. This water-based, low-VOC paint offers excellent coverage and a washable finish, making it both practical and aesthetically pleasing.

FAQs

What finish does this paint have?

The Frenchic Clay Pot Wall Paint has an ultra-matte finish, providing a sophisticated, non-reflective appearance.

Do I need to use a primer or top coat?

No, this paint is self-priming and self-sealing, meaning you do not need to use a separate primer or top coat.

How many coats of paint are recommended?

For the best depth of colour and a more durable finish, two coats are recommended.

What is the coverage of a 2.5l tin?

A 2.5l tin will cover up to 35m2 with a single coat. With two coats, expect to cover approximately 17.5m2.

Is this paint suitable for kitchens and bathrooms?

It is suitable for kitchen cupboards and general interior walls. However, it is not recommended for use in very wet areas like shower surrounds or bath areas.

How do I clean the painted surface?

Once cured, the paint is completely scrubbable. You can clean marks using a damp cloth or sponge with mild soap and water.

Is this paint safe for use around children and pets?

Yes, it is water-based, has low VOCs, virtually no odour, and is certified safe for use on children's toys (EN71-3).

Can I match this paint with other Frenchic products?

Yes, the same shades are available in the Frenchic soft-sheen Trim Paint range, allowing you to coordinate walls with skirting boards, doors, and frames.

Troubleshooting

Paint not adhering well

Ensure the surface was clean, dry, and free from dust or grease before application. A light sanding of the surface might improve adhesion on very smooth or previously gloss-painted areas.

Uneven colour finish

Ensure the paint was stirred thoroughly before and during application. Apply paint evenly, maintaining a wet edge to avoid lap marks. Ensure two coats have been applied as recommended for depth of colour.

Stains are difficult to remove

Allow the paint to cure fully (typically 7-14 days) before attempting deep cleaning. Use a soft cloth or sponge with mild soap and water. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive scrubbers.

Paint appears too thin or streaky

This can occur with the first coat. Ensure the second coat is applied evenly. Check that the paint has not been excessively thinned, and stir regularly during use.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Surface Preparation: Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, and flaking paint. For previously painted surfaces, a light sand may improve adhesion. As the paint is self-priming and self-sealing, extensive preparation is typically not required.

Application: Stir the paint thoroughly before use. Apply using a good quality brush or roller. Two coats are recommended for best coverage and durability. Allow adequate drying time between coats as per manufacturer guidelines.

Compatibility: Suitable for interior walls and ceilings. Also recommended for use on wooden furniture, interior woodwork, wooden floors, kitchen cupboards, metal, and powder-coated radiators, and interior uPVC. *Avoid use in very wet areas such as shower cubicles or bath surrounds.*

Care: Once fully cured, the paint is completely scrubbable. Clean gently with a damp cloth or sponge and mild detergent if necessary. Avoid abrasive cleaners or tools that could damage the matte finish.
