French designer Ronan Bouroullec's Drawing posters are based on the idea of intuitive drawing. This technique enables him to develop new images and reach the subconscious layers of the mind. Intuitive drawing is derived from the literary roots of Surrealism and its automatic writing, which requires consciousness to be completely shut down while a text is being written. This literary form in turn influenced the content of many Surrealist artists' works, and often translates into meandering, flowing forms. The Drawing posters feature broad marker strokes that create fluid, abstract forms, with a fascinating effect of depth. For Ronan Bouroullec, drawing is a relaxing, meditative process: he lets the felt glide freely and intuitively over the paper without planning the shapes beforehand. As a result, the forms have no clear beginning or end, evoking a variety of interpretations. Since the early 2000s, the work of brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec has emerged as one of the most representative of France's dynamic design scene. Working as a duo since 1998, the two brothers now design for a wide range of manufacturers, while continuing their experimental research activities. They have also worked on architectural projects for Camper, Issey Miyake, Kvadrat fabric and others. Several monographic exhibitions have been devoted to them: Design Museum, London 2002, Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, Boijmans van Beuningen Museum, Rotterdam and La Piscine, Musée d'Art et d'Industrie, Roubaix 2004, Villa Noailles, Hyeres 2008, Grand Hornu, Belgium 2009, a quadruple exhibition in Rennes 2016.Their creations can be found in the collections of institutions such as the Musée national d'art moderne - Centre Pompidou and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Design Museum in London and the Boijmans van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam.
