Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Using your Salomon Speedcross Peak shoes is straightforward:
- Lacing: To tighten, pull the Quicklace cord upwards and away from the shoe until the desired tension is achieved. To loosen, press the release button on the lace lock and pull the cord to allow the lace to slide freely.
- Stowing Excess Lace: Once tightened, tuck any excess Quicklace cord into the lace garage located on the tongue of the shoe to prevent snagging.
Compatibility
- Best Use: Ideal for trail running, fell running, obstacle course racing, and hiking on mixed, technical, and loose terrains. Its design excels in varied conditions, from wet to dry.
- Terrain: Highly compatible with soft ground, mud, rock, and gravel. While capable on hard-packed trails, its aggressive lugs might feel less efficient on long stretches of pavement.
- Foot Type: The Sensifit system is designed to accommodate a wide range of foot types by providing a customizable, secure fit.
Care
Proper care extends the lifespan and performance of your Speedcross Peak shoes:
- Cleaning: After each run, remove any large debris by hand. For deeper cleaning, rinse the shoes under cold running water. Use a soft brush (like an old toothbrush) and mild soap if necessary to remove stubborn mud or dirt. Avoid harsh detergents or machine washing, as these can damage materials and adhesives.
- Drying: Allow shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature. Remove insoles and loosen the lacing to facilitate quicker drying. Avoid direct heat sources like radiators or direct sunlight, which can cause materials to crack or shrink.
- Storage: Store your shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use. Ensure they are completely dry before storing to prevent mildew.
- Insoles: Periodically remove and air out insoles to maintain freshness.
- Outsole Inspection: Regularly check the Contagrip outsole for embedded rocks or excessive wear, especially on the lugs, to maintain optimal traction.
