Setup, Compatibility & Care
Getting Started & Adjustments
Simply put on the jacket over your child's regular clothing. For the best fit and protection:
- Hem Drawcord: Locate the drawcord at the bottom hem of the jacket. Gently pull to tighten it around the waist or hips, creating a snug fit that helps keep cold air out. Release for a looser fit.
- Adjustable Cuffs: Use the fastenings on the cuffs to tighten or loosen them around the wrists. A snug fit here is crucial for preventing wind and rain from entering the sleeves and for keeping warmth in.
Compatibility (Layering)
This parka is designed to be worn over other clothing. For maximum comfort and warmth in varying conditions, consider a layering system:
- Base Layer: A moisture-wicking t-shirt or long-sleeved top to keep skin dry.
- Mid-Layer: A fleece or jumper for additional insulation.
- Outer Layer: Your Trespass Upbeat Parka Jacket, providing waterproof and windproof protection.
Product Care & Maintenance
Proper care is essential to maintain the jacket's waterproof and insulating properties.
- Washing: Always check the care label inside the jacket for specific washing instructions. Generally, polyester PVC shells should be machine washed on a gentle cycle with cold water using a technical wash for waterproof garments, or a mild detergent. Avoid harsh detergents, bleach, and fabric softeners, as these can damage the waterproof coating.
- Drying: Air dry the jacket by hanging it. Do not tumble dry, as high heat can damage the PVC coating. Ensure it is completely dry before storing to prevent mildew.
- Storage: Store the jacket in a cool, dry place. Avoid compressing it excessively, which can affect the loft of the filling.
- Waterproofing Maintenance: Over time, the durable water repellent (DWR) finish on the outer fabric may wear off. If you notice water no longer beads on the surface, you can restore it using a DWR spray or wash-in product specifically designed for waterproof outerwear. Follow the product's instructions carefully.
