Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Lacing: Before your first wear, ensure proper lacing using the tubular lace fastening. Lace them securely but not overly tight to allow for natural foot movement.
- Sizing Check: Utilize the removable "Does it Fit?" sockliner to confirm you have the correct size. Place your foot on the sockliner; if your toes align within the designated area, the size is appropriate. Ensure enough toe room while the heel remains secure.
- Initial Wear: Wear the boots for short periods initially to allow them to conform to your feet and for the materials to soften.
Compatibility
These boots are designed for general outdoor use, light to moderate hiking, and casual wear. They are compatible with various socks, though moisture-wicking hiking socks are recommended for optimal comfort and to complement the Gore-Tex® membrane's breathability. They perform well on dirt trails, gravel paths, and uneven natural surfaces.
Care
- Cleaning: For the premium nubuck Better Leather, gently brush off loose dirt with a soft brush. For stubborn stains, use a specialized nubuck cleaner following product instructions. For the mesh fabric, a damp cloth can be used. Do not use harsh detergents.
- Drying: Always allow your boots to air dry naturally away from direct heat sources like radiators or direct sunlight, as this can damage the leather and adhesives.
- Waterproofing Maintenance: While equipped with Gore-Tex®, regularly cleaning and treating the exterior with a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) spray designed for nubuck and textile materials can help maintain the outer water repellency and prevent the upper from wetting out.
- Storage: Store boots in a cool, dry place when not in use. Stuffing them with newspaper can help maintain their shape and absorb any residual moisture.
