FAQs

Do I need a specific Samsung TV for this soundbar?

While the soundbar works with most TVs via HDMI or Optical, the Q-Symphony feature requires a compatible Samsung TV model (select QLED or Crystal UHD series) for synchronized audio.

How do I connect the rear speakers?

The rear speakers are wireless and should automatically pair with the soundbar when powered on. Ensure they are plugged into a power source and within a reasonable distance.

Can I adjust the bass or treble levels?

Yes, you can typically adjust EQ settings, bass, and treble levels through the Samsung SmartThings app or the soundbar's remote control, depending on the available options.

What is Dolby Atmos?

Dolby Atmos is an immersive audio technology that adds height to the sound experience, allowing sounds to be positioned and move around you, including overhead. This soundbar features upward-firing speakers to simulate these overhead effects.

How do I update the firmware on the soundbar?

Firmware updates are typically managed through the Samsung SmartThings app. Ensure your soundbar is connected to Wi-Fi and follow the update prompts within the app.

Does this soundbar support Bluetooth streaming?

Yes, the Samsung Q990H supports Bluetooth connectivity, allowing you to stream audio wirelessly from compatible devices like smartphones and tablets.

Troubleshooting

No sound from the soundbar

Check that the TV is set to output audio to the soundbar (HDMI ARC or Optical). Ensure the soundbar is powered on and the volume is up. Verify connections are secure.

Subwoofer or rear speakers not connecting

Unplug the power for the soundbar, subwoofer, and rear speakers. Wait 30 seconds, then plug them back in, starting with the soundbar. Ensure they are within wireless range.

Poor audio quality or distorted sound

Check the audio output settings on your source device (TV, streaming box) and ensure it's compatible with the soundbar's capabilities (e.g., Dolby Digital, DTS:X). Try resetting the soundbar.

Q-Symphony not working

Confirm your Samsung TV model is compatible with Q-Symphony 3.0 and that the feature is enabled in the TV's sound settings. Ensure the soundbar is connected via HDMI ARC.

Pros and Cons

Includes dedicated subwoofer and rear speakers for comprehensive sound.

Room calibration technology ensures optimal sound quality.

Cons

Requires significant space for optimal placement of all components, especially rear speakers.
May be overkill for smaller rooms or casual viewers.
Performance relies heavily on compatibility with source devices for advanced features.
Higher price point compared to simpler soundbar systems.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup:

Connect the soundbar to your TV using the included HDMI eARC cable or optical cable.
Plug in the power adapters for the soundbar, subwoofer, and rear speakers.
Place the rear speakers behind your primary listening position and the subwoofer to the side or front.
Power on all components. The soundbar should automatically pair with the subwoofer and rear speakers.
For advanced features like Q-Symphony, ensure your Samsung TV is compatible and connected via HDMI.

Compatibility:

Supports HDMI ARC/eARC, Optical, and Bluetooth connections.
Compatible with most TVs, but Q-Symphony 3.0 requires select Samsung QLED or Crystal UHD TVs.
Works with devices supporting Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, MP3, AAC, FLAC, and other common audio formats.

Care:

Clean the soundbar, subwoofer, and rear speakers with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or liquids.
Ensure all speaker grilles are free of dust and debris. A gentle vacuum with a brush attachment can be used carefully.
Keep vents clear on all components to prevent overheating.
