The Altura Kielder Lightweight Trail MTB Shorts are designed for mountain bikers seeking comfort and mobility during warm-weather rides, offering a relaxed fit and practical storage for trail essentials. No, the Altura Kielder shorts are designed as an outer shell and do not include a padded liner.
Yes, the shorts are cut with a relaxed fit specifically to accommodate most mountain biking knee pads.
They feature a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating which makes them water-resistant against light rain and trail spray, but they are not fully waterproof.
Machine wash in cool water with a mild detergent. Avoid fabric softeners and high-heat tumble drying to preserve the DWR coating.
The shorts are constructed from durable polyester designed for the demands of trail riding.
Wash the garment and apply a technical DWR re-proofing spray to restore water resistance.
Ensure the elasticated waist panel is positioned correctly and consider a cycling-specific belt if extra security is needed.
For optimal performance, ensure you pair these shorts with a quality chamois liner if you are planning rides longer than an hour. To maintain the effectiveness of the DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish, wash the shorts in cool water with a mild detergent and avoid using fabric softeners, which can clog the technical fibers. Always air dry when possible, as high heat from tumble dryers can degrade the water-resistant coating over time.
