Setup, Compatibility & Care
Before installation, ensure the cabinet structure is sound and level. Because these doors are shipped raw, preparation is vital for a long-lasting finish:
- Preparation: Lightly de-nib the pre-sanded surface with a fine-grit sandpaper (240-320 grit) to remove any dust.
- Priming: Apply a high-quality wood primer suitable for MDF. This is critical to prevent the porous surface from unevenly absorbing the final coat.
- Painting: Apply at least two coats of your chosen cabinet paint, allowing for proper drying time between layers.
- Hardware: Measure and mark hinge locations carefully. Use a standard concealed hinge jig to ensure the door hangs plumb.
- Maintenance: Avoid abrasive cleaners. Wipe down with a damp, lint-free cloth and mild soap. Ensure that if the painted finish is chipped, it is touched up promptly to maintain the integrity of the moisture-resistant seal.
