Full details

The Defender Plug-In Simulated TV / Fake TV is designed for homeowners seeking a simple and effective deterrent against burglaries. It creates the illusion that someone is home by mimicking the light patterns of a television, a key benefit for enhancing home security without complex installation. A potential caveat is its reliance on projecting light onto window coverings, which might not be effective in all window configurations. This device features realistic, color-varying LED light, a dusk-till-dawn sensor for automatic activation, and a pass-through socket for convenience.

FAQs

How does the Defender Fake TV device deter burglars?

It simulates the light patterns of a television that is on, creating the appearance that someone is home. This visual deterrent can discourage potential burglars and opportunistic thieves from targeting your property.

Does this device require batteries?

No, the Defender Fake TV device is powered directly from the mains via a standard wall outlet. This ensures continuous operation without the need for battery changes.

What is the function of the pass-through socket?

The pass-through socket allows you to plug another electrical appliance into the same wall outlet that the Defender Fake TV is using. This means you don't lose the use of the outlet, saving space and avoiding the need for extension cords or multiple adapters.

How do I set the operating mode?

There is an integrated switch on the device. You can cycle through the modes: Always On, 4-Hour Timer, 7-Hour Timer, and Off by toggling this switch.

What is the light sensor's activation point?

The intelligent dusk-till-dawn sensor activates the device when the ambient light level drops to approximately 0.5 LUX, which corresponds to twilight or darkness.

Can I use this in a caravan or motorhome?

Yes, the device is suitable for use in homes, caravans, and motorhomes. Its compact size and mains power requirement make it versatile for various locations.

What type of light does it produce?

It produces bright, multi-coloured LED light that varies in intensity and colour to mimic the realistic look of a television screen. It uses 9 LEDs and has a power range of 3W-5W.

Troubleshooting

Device does not turn on automatically at night.

Ensure the device is plugged in and the operating mode is set to 'Always On', '4-Hour Timer', or '7-Hour Timer'. Check that the ambient light level is below 0.5 LUX; the sensor may not activate if the room is too bright.

Light pattern appears too static or unnatural.

Ensure the device is correctly positioned to project onto the window covering. Adjust the angle or distance to achieve a more dispersed and varied light effect. Clean the LEDs if they appear obstructed.

Pass-through socket is not powering another appliance.

Verify that the other appliance is functioning correctly. Ensure the Defender Fake TV device itself is receiving power. If the issue persists, the pass-through socket may be faulty.

Device turns off during the night unexpectedly.

If set to a timer mode (4-hour or 7-hour), the device will turn off after the selected duration. If set to 'Always On' and it turns off, check the power connection and ensure the outlet is functional.
