Full details

The Guru Pulse 9 Shock Leader (0.20mm) is designed for dedicated feeder anglers who demand maximum sensitivity and durability when casting at extreme distances. Its standout feature is the innovative centre-core technology, which provides exceptional tensile strength while maintaining a zero-stretch profile for instant bite registration. While its robust design is ideal for demanding environments, beginners may find its specialized weave requires careful knot selection to maintain peak performance.

FAQs

Is this shock leader suitable for shock absorption?

The Pulse 9 is a zero-stretch leader, meaning it is designed for sensitivity and strength, not for absorbing the impact of a cast like monofilament leaders.

What is the primary benefit of the eight-fibre weave?

The eight-fibre weave creates a perfectly round, smooth profile that glides through rod guides, increasing casting distance and reducing drag.

Can I use this for carp fishing?

Yes, it is highly effective for any feeder fishing application where long-range accuracy and sensitivity are required.

How do I maintain the line's performance?

Keep the line clean of debris and avoid storing it in direct sunlight to maintain the integrity of the coating.

Does the line sink immediately?

Yes, its dense construction is designed to sink quickly and settle on the lake bed with minimal water absorption.

Troubleshooting

Knot failure during powerful casts

Ensure you are using a knot suitable for braided materials and always lubricate the knot with water or saliva before pulling it tight to prevent the line from burning itself.

Line visibility concerns

The dark green colour is designed to sink; ensure you are using a sinker or backlead if you need to keep the entire line path pinned to the bottom.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Exceptional tensile strength for heavy-duty feeder fishing
Zero-stretch composition ensures immediate bite detection
Smooth, round profile enhances casting distance
Low underwater visibility due to dark green colour
Excellent durability against environmental wear

Cons

Requires specific knot knowledge for optimal security
Not intended for applications requiring line elasticity
Limited to 0.20mm diameter specifications

Setup, Compatibility & Care

For the best results, use a high-strength knot—such as a back-to-back uni knot or an Albright special—to connect the Pulse 9 shock leader to your main line, ensuring you moisten the line before tightening to prevent friction damage. Given its 0.20mm diameter, it is compatible with most modern feeder rods and standard guide sizes. After a day of fishing, rinse your reel and leader with fresh water if used in brackish or dirty conditions to preserve the integrity of the coating. Store the spool away from direct sunlight to prevent UV degradation over long periods of non-use.
