FAQs

Does this material require a heat press?

While a heat press provides the most consistent results, a standard household iron can be used if you apply firm, steady pressure across the entire design.

Which side goes down on the mat?

Always place the shiny side (the carrier sheet) facing down on your cutting mat.

Can I use this on nylon or waterproof jackets?

This material is best suited for cotton, polyester, and poly-cotton blends. It may not adhere correctly to nylon or specially treated water-resistant fabrics.

Do I need to mirror my image before cutting?

Yes, since you are cutting the material from the back (shiny side down), you must always mirror your design in the software before cutting.

Can I layer other iron-on materials on top of this?

It is generally not recommended to layer other iron-on vinyl on top of glitter iron-on, as the textured surface makes it difficult for the second layer to bond securely.

Troubleshooting

Design is peeling off after washing

Re-apply heat and pressure for a longer duration, ensuring the heat is applied directly through the carrier sheet or a pressing cloth.

Material is difficult to cut

Check if your blade is dull and ensure you have selected the correct 'Glitter Iron-On' material setting in Design Space.

Glitter film bubbling during application

Reduce the heat setting or application time; excessive heat can damage the glitter coating.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • High-quality glitter finish that does not flake
  • Easy to weed excess vinyl after cutting
  • Compatible with all Cricut cutting machines
  • Versatile for both fabric apparel and home textiles

Cons

  • Requires specific heat press settings for best adhesion
  • Single sheet per pack limits large-scale production
  • Not suitable for heat-sensitive materials like certain synthetics

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To set up your project, load the material shiny-side down into your Cricut machine and select the 'Glitter Iron-On' material setting in Design Space. Once cut, weed away the negative space. To apply, preheat your surface to remove moisture, place your design face down, and apply heat based on your specific fabric type.

For care, wait at least 24 hours after application before washing. Turn the finished garment inside out before machine washing in cold water, and tumble dry on a low setting. Never use bleach, and if ironing is needed, iron the garment inside out to protect the design.
