Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Adjust Strike Force: Rotate the knurled head at the top of the punch to set the desired strike force. Clockwise increases force, counter-clockwise decreases it. Test on a scrap piece to find the right setting.
- Position for Marking: Place the tip of the punch on the desired marking point.
- Depress Head: Apply firm, downward pressure on the head of the punch. The tool will automatically release the strike.
Compatibility:
The Faithfull Automatic Centre Punch is generally compatible with a wide range of materials including wood, plastic, soft metals (aluminum, brass, copper), and mild steel. Performance may vary on extremely hard metals or brittle materials.
Care:
- Cleaning: Wipe the punch clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth after use to remove dust and debris. Avoid solvents or harsh chemicals.
- Storage: Store the punch in a dry place. Consider using a protective cap or storing it in a tool roll or case to prevent accidental activation and protect the tip.
- Lubrication: Periodically, a small drop of light machine oil can be applied to the moving parts if the action becomes stiff, but ensure excess oil is wiped away.
