The Timco M12 x 150mm Carriage Bolt and Hex Nut set is an essential hardware solution for woodworkers, carpenters, and DIY enthusiasts who need a reliable, secure fastening system for heavy-duty timber applications. These high-grade carbon steel bolts feature a unique domed head and square anti-spin shoulder that lock into place, preventing rotation during tightening, though users should note that the zinc finish is best suited for indoor or sheltered environments rather than direct, long-term outdoor exposure to harsh weather.

While the bolt is functional without one, using a flat washer under the hex nut is recommended to distribute pressure and prevent the nut from sinking into the wood.
No, these are specifically designed for timber where the square shoulder can embed itself into the material.
The head diameter is 30.00mm.
Yes, this specific 150mm length is fully threaded.
You will need a drill with a 12mm or 13mm bit, a hammer or mallet, and a 19mm wrench or socket.
The zinc finish provides basic protection, but for marine or coastal environments, stainless steel or hot-dip galvanized fasteners are strongly recommended.
The square shoulder has not engaged correctly. Tap the head firmly with a hammer to seat the shoulder into the timber.
Timber can dry out and shrink. Simply re-tighten the hex nut to compensate for the reduction in timber thickness.
The zinc coating may have been scratched during installation. Apply a cold-galvanizing spray or touch-up paint to seal the exposed steel.
To install, drill a pilot hole slightly larger than the 12mm bolt diameter through the timber. Insert the carriage bolt and tap the domed head with a rubber mallet until the square shoulder is fully seated. Tighten the provided hex nut using a 19mm wrench. While these bolts are finished in zinc to resist rust, they are not stainless steel. To extend the life of the finish, avoid using them in acidic timber (such as green oak) or constant saltwater environments. Regularly check the nut tightness after the first few weeks, as timber can shrink or expand with moisture changes, potentially loosening the connection.
