The Magura QM40 disc brake adapter is an essential component for cyclists upgrading their braking systems to support larger rotors on Post Mount frames and forks. Designed specifically for Magura MT5 and MT7 calipers, it provides a precise, secure interface that ensures optimal alignment for 180mm front or 160mm rear rotor configurations. While it offers excellent versatility by replacing multiple older adapter models, users must ensure their specific frame mount standard is compatible before installation to avoid incorrect rotor spacing.

The QM40 is specifically engineered for Magura MT5 and MT7 systems and may not provide correct alignment for other brands.
The QM40 is designed for different rotor offset requirements compared to the QM5; always refer to the specific mounting needs of your fork or frame.
The product includes the adapter unit; please check your specific packaging for included hardware, though it is standard practice to reuse or replace frame-specific bolts.
No, the QM40 is designed for 180mm front or 160mm rear configurations. For 203mm rotors, you would need the Magura QM44 adapter.
Yes, this is a Post Mount (PM) adapter. If your frame has IS mounts, you would require an additional IS-to-PM conversion bracket.
PM 6 refers to a 6-inch post mount (common on many modern front forks), while PM 5 is the 5-inch standard (common on many rear frame mounts).
Check that the adapter is flush against the frame and that no debris is trapped between the interfaces; re-center the caliper.
Verify that you are using the correct PM 6 or PM 5 mount size for your specific frame configuration.
Ensure you are using the correct hex key size and apply firm, steady pressure; use a torque wrench to avoid over-tightening.
To install the QM40, ensure your bike frame or fork features a standard Post Mount interface. Verify the mount size (PM 6-inch for front, PM 5-inch for rear) before installation. Secure the adapter to the frame using the factory-recommended torque settings to prevent thread stripping. When performing routine maintenance, check the bolts for tension during every brake pad replacement. While the adapter itself is low-maintenance, keeping the mounting surfaces clean of debris ensures that the caliper remains perfectly square to the rotor, which is vital for preventing squealing and vibration.
