Setup, Compatibility & Care
Installation should be performed while the engine is cool to prevent burns and to ensure that pneumatic lines are pliable.
- Identify the Location: Locate the existing solenoid valve, often found mounted on the engine block or a bracket near the turbocharger/exhaust manifold.
- Secure Connections: Carefully disconnect the electrical harness and the vacuum/pneumatic hoses. Label the hoses if necessary to avoid confusion.
- Mounting: Swap the old unit for the new Pierburg converter, ensuring the mounting bracket is tightened securely to prevent vibration.
- Reconnection: Attach hoses ensuring a tight, airtight seal to prevent pressure leaks. Connect the electrical harness until you hear a click.
- Maintenance: Regularly inspect the rubber vacuum hoses leading to this converter, as dry rot in those lines can mimic a failing solenoid valve. Use only genuine replacement lines if cracks are found.
