Setup, Compatibility & Care
Sowing Seeds:
- Sow seeds from February to April.
- Use a good, free-draining seed or multipurpose compost.
- Sow on the surface of the compost and lightly cover with a fine sprinkling of vermiculite.
- Place the container in a propagator or seal inside a polythene bag.
- Maintain a temperature of 20-25°C (68-77°F) until germination.
- Do not exclude light, as it aids germination.
Germination and Transplanting:
- Germination typically takes 14-30 days.
- Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into trays or 7.5cm (3”) pots.
- Gradually acclimatize plants to cooler conditions over a few weeks before planting outdoors.
Planting Out:
- Plant out after all risk of frost has passed.
- Space plants approximately 30cm (12”) apart.
- Position: Full Sun is essential for best flowering.
Care:
- Water regularly, especially during dry periods, but avoid waterlogging.
- Deadhead spent blooms to encourage further flowering.
- Plants are generally low maintenance once established.
