Product Information

Full details

The B&Q Melamine Shelf in white matt is designed for homeowners and DIY enthusiasts looking for a clean, versatile storage solution for organizing living spaces, offices, or bedrooms. The key benefit of these shelves is their minimalist aesthetic and modular compatibility, allowing them to integrate seamlessly with standard shelving hardware for a polished display. A minor caveat to note is that these shelves are limited to a weight capacity of 10kg each, meaning they are best suited for decorative items, books, and lightweight household essentials rather than heavy-duty storage.

FAQs

Can these shelves be cut to a different size?

Yes, melamine can be cut with a fine-tooth saw, but be mindful that the cut edge will be exposed and may require edge banding.

Do these shelves come with brackets included?

No, the brackets and shelf clips must be purchased separately based on your specific wall type and mounting preference.

What is the weight limit for one shelf?

Each shelf is rated to hold up to 10kg when the weight is evenly distributed.

Are these suitable for bathroom use?

While melamine is moisture-resistant, they are not waterproof; avoid installing them in areas with direct water contact like inside a shower.

Can I paint the surface?

The factory-applied melamine finish is smooth and intended for final use; painting is not recommended as standard paints may not adhere well to the laminate.

Troubleshooting

Shelf appears to bow or sag in the middle

Verify the weight of items on the shelf does not exceed 10kg and ensure brackets are spaced no more than 600mm apart.

Shelf slides out of brackets

Ensure that the mounting hardware used includes a locking mechanism or securing screws to keep the melamine board fixed in place.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Installation requires basic hand tools, such as a spirit level, screwdriver, and a drill, depending on the bracket type chosen. Ensure that your brackets or clips are spaced evenly to prevent the shelf from bowing over time. These shelves are compatible with most standard shelving hardware found in hardware stores. For care, use a soft, damp cloth with mild soap for routine cleaning; avoid using abrasive scrubbers or harsh chemical solvents that could damage the matt finish. Always distribute weight evenly across the shelf surface to maintain its structural integrity.
