Product Information

Full details

The Slazenger Flick Hockey Stick is the perfect entry-level equipment designed specifically for beginners and juniors beginning their journey in field hockey. Its primary benefit lies in its forgiving fibreglass construction and classic J-shape head, which simplifies ball control and skill development. However, players should note that as it is constructed from fibreglass rather than premium composite materials like carbon, it lacks the extreme stiffness required for advanced power hitting or competitive-level drag flicking.

FAQs

Is this stick suitable for indoor hockey?

This stick is primarily designed for outdoor field hockey on grass or artificial turf.

How do I know which size to pick?

For beginners, the stick should reach approximately to your hip bone when standing upright.

Can advanced players use this stick?

While technically usable, advanced players generally prefer carbon-composite sticks that offer greater power and stiffness.

Does it come with a protective cover?

No, the stick does not include a protective cover; a standard stick bag is recommended for transport.

Is the grip tape replaceable?

Yes, you can easily remove the existing grip tape and apply a standard replacement grip from any sports store.

Troubleshooting

The grip is starting to peel or become loose

Secure the edges with electrical tape or replace the handle wrap entirely with a new grip.

The head of the stick feels 'sticky' or covered in residue

Clean the head using a mild soap solution and a cloth, then wipe dry to ensure maximum friction for ball control.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Durable materials suitable for heavy training use
Excellent control for learning fundamental skills
Comfortable handle grip for better handling
Lightweight construction prevents user fatigue

Cons

Not intended for high-intensity competitive play
Lacks the power of carbon-infused sticks
Limited to beginner-level skill sets

Setup, Compatibility & Care

As this is a pre-assembled stick, there is no technical setup required. To maintain the integrity of your Slazenger Flick Hockey Stick, follow these care tips:

Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, as excessive heat can degrade the composite material over time.
Cleaning: Wipe the stick down with a damp cloth after every use to remove sand, mud, and pitch debris.
Grip Maintenance: The handle grip will naturally wear out. If it becomes slippery, it is recommended to replace it with a standard hockey grip wrap to maintain control.
Surface Check: Regularly inspect the head for deep scratches or cracks; while fibreglass is durable, deep structural damage can compromise its performance.
