FAQs

Can these be washed in a washing machine?

It is recommended to hand wash these sleeves to protect the integrity of the D3O padding and the elastic structure.

What is D3O padding?

D3O is a non-Newtonian material that is soft and flexible in its natural state but hardens upon impact to absorb energy.

Are these suitable for downhill racing?

These are lightweight trail sleeves; they are not intended for heavy-duty downhill racing where full hard-shell coverage is recommended.

How do I choose the right size?

Measure the circumference of your thigh and calf as per the sizing guide and ensure the sleeve fits snugly without restricting blood flow.

Can I wear these under tight jeans?

Yes, their low-profile design makes them suitable for wearing under most types of riding pants.

Do they work in hot weather?

Yes, the breathable fabric is designed to manage moisture and keep you cool, making them suitable for all-weather conditions.

Troubleshooting

Sleeve slipping down during rides

Ensure the silicone grippers are placed against clean, dry skin. Remove any sweat or lotion from your leg before sliding the sleeve on.

Skin irritation or chafing

Ensure the sleeve is positioned correctly and that the seam is not twisted. If the problem persists, ensure you are wearing the correct size.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Extremely lightweight and low-profile under pants
Excellent freedom of movement due to flexible D3O material
High-quality silicone grippers maintain secure placement
Durable abrasion-resistant outer material

Cons

Offers less coverage than full hard-shell knee armor
Not intended for extreme downhill or high-speed impacts
Padding thickness is moderate rather than heavy-duty

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure proper performance, slide the sleeve up until the D3O padding is centered directly over the kneecap. The silicone grippers should be in direct contact with your skin above the calf to prevent migration.

Care Instructions:

Hand wash in cold water using a mild detergent.
Air dry in a shaded area; avoid direct heat or tumble drying as this can compromise the D3O padding and silicone grippers.
Check the fabric and stitching periodically for signs of wear after heavy crashes.
