This BG Black Nickel Double 13A Switched Socket with USB is designed for homeowners looking to modernize their electrical outlets with a sleek, stylish, and functional solution. Its key benefit is providing convenient charging for USB devices directly from the socket while maintaining a sophisticated aesthetic. A potential caveat is that the USB power output is 12W, which may not be sufficient for high-power charging needs. This socket offers dual 13A sockets, integrated USB charging ports with intelligent variable voltage and standby mode, and a durable black nickel finish with a raised slim profile.

The total USB power output for this socket is 12 watts.
While it offers intelligent voltage adjustment, the 12W total output may not support the fastest charging standards (like USB PD or Quick Charge) for all modern smartphones, which often require higher wattages.
The 13A sockets are rated for standard UK appliance loads. Ensure the total power draw of any connected appliances does not exceed the circuit's capacity or the socket's rating.
The black nickel finish is designed for aesthetic appeal and reasonable durability in typical household environments. Avoid abrasive cleaning to maintain its appearance.
The BG Electrical USB range, including this socket, is guaranteed against faulty materials and workmanship for 10 years.
The fixed integrated plastic gasket is designed to protect metal edges from moisture and is beneficial in reducing ingress, but the socket is not rated as waterproof.
Use a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Ensure power is off before cleaning and avoid abrasive chemicals.
Check that the circuit breaker or fuse for this circuit is not tripped or blown. Verify wiring connections are secure. Ensure the switch on the socket is in the 'on' position.
Confirm that the main power supply to the socket is active. Ensure the connected USB cable is functional and correctly plugged in. Try connecting a different USB device to test.
The total USB output is 12W. If multiple devices are connected, or if a high-power device is connected, charging may be slower. Consider using a dedicated high-wattage charger for power-hungry devices.
Ensure the mounting screws securing the socket to the wall box are tightened appropriately. If the wall box itself is loose, it may require professional attention.
Setup: This is a mains electrical device and should be installed by a qualified electrician. Ensure the power supply is switched off at the mains before commencing installation. The angled, colour-coded captive screw terminals facilitate secure wire connections. The integrated gasket should be correctly positioned to provide moisture protection.
Compatibility: The 13A sockets are compatible with standard UK mains plugs. The USB ports are compatible with most USB-powered devices, including smartphones, tablets, e-readers, and MP3 players. The variable voltage feature ensures compatibility with a wide range of charging requirements within its power limits.
Care: To clean the socket, ensure the power is isolated. Use a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth to wipe the surface. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they can damage the finish. Ensure the USB ports remain free of dust and debris.
