The Palmetto Palm, with its massive gray trunk, develops a braided appearance over the years. Its circular, fan-shaped leaves are a beautiful blue-green to green color. It is native to the southeastern US and can tolerate mild frost. Seeds can be sown indoors throughout the year. For better germination, soak seeds in warm water for about 12 hours. Plant the seeds in moist compost, cover with clear foil, and place in a warm, bright place. Water with low-lime water. During winter, protect it from frost or keep it in a cool, bright room.
