Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: Upon arrival, carefully unwrap the hessian and satin bow. If intended as a gift, present as is. For planting, ensure the pot's drainage holes are clear. If planting directly into the ground, select a sunny spot with well-draining soil. If keeping in a pot, ensure it's suitable for outdoor use or a conservatory and has adequate drainage.
Compatibility: These olive trees thrive in full sun and prefer well-draining soil. They are compatible with most garden soils but will not tolerate waterlogged conditions. They are frost-tolerant down to approximately -8°C when protected; in colder climates, they benefit from being moved to a sheltered location, wrapped in horticultural fleece, or placed in a frost-free conservatory during winter.
Care:
- Watering: Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry. Reduce watering in winter.
- Feeding: Apply a balanced liquid fertilizer lightly during spring and summer.
- Pruning: Prune annually in late spring or early summer to maintain shape and remove any unwanted growth.
- Repotting: Repot every 2-3 years into a slightly larger container if keeping in a pot, preferably in spring.
