This Barrettine Timber Cut End Preserver is designed for builders and DIY enthusiasts needing to protect vulnerable exposed end grain on timber. Its key benefit is providing robust, long-lasting protection against fungal decay, rot, blue stain, and wood-boring insects through deep penetration and a water-repellent finish. A caveat is that it's for outdoor use only and requires specific cleaning agents for tools.

The Barrettine Timber Cut End Preserver is specifically formulated to protect the exposed end grain of timber from fungal decay, rot, blue stain, and wood-boring insects.
No, this product is strictly for outdoor applications only.
You must clean your brushes immediately after use with Barrettine White Spirit or a suitable Brush Cleaner. Do not let the product dry on the brushes.
It is recommended to apply a minimum of two coats, depending on the wood species and surface characteristics. Ensure adequate drying time between coats.
It is ideal for cladding and other cut pressure-treated timbers, and suitable for a wide range of outdoor joinery, decking, and garden structures.
This product is described as 'White' in its colour family, suggesting it may have a clear or slightly opaque white appearance upon application, but its primary function is protection rather than decorative colour.
For best results, you can stand the ends of the timber in the Cut End Preserver for up to an hour to allow deep absorption into the end grain.
Ensure the wood end grain is clean and dry. Apply more liberally or consider standing the timber end in the preserver for an extended period (up to one hour).
Apply the product thinly and evenly, spreading out the coverage. Ensure consistent brush strokes. A second coat may help even out the appearance.
Clean tools immediately after use with Barrettine White Spirit or Brush Cleaner. Dried-on product will be significantly harder to remove.
This may indicate insufficient penetration or application in very damp conditions. Ensure the timber is dry before application and that adequate coats have been applied.
