FAQs

What is the total USB output power?

The two USB ports share a total output of 5 Volts and 2.1 Amps. This means the maximum combined output for both ports is 2.1A.

How is the PDU mounted?

It is designed to be mounted horizontally onto a desk or bench surface using the included adjustable mounting clamps.

What is the length of the power cord?

The power cord is approximately 1.8 meters long and is a BSI-rated flex with a standard UK plug.

Can I power high-wattage appliances?

The PDU is designed for typical office or electronic devices. It's recommended to check the wattage of your appliances against standard UK socket limits. It is not designed for high-power industrial equipment.

What materials is the PDU made from?

It features a brushed aluminium finish with a plastic insert for a durable and modern look.

Can I use this PDU for charging my laptop via USB?

While the USB ports can charge many devices, standard laptop charging often requires higher amperage than the shared 2.1A output can provide for fast charging. It might charge slowly or not at all, depending on the laptop's requirements.

Troubleshooting

No power to UK sockets

Ensure the UK plug is securely inserted into a working wall socket. Check if the fuse in the wall socket has tripped or if the circuit breaker has been activated.

USB devices not charging or charging slowly

Verify that the total power draw from all connected USB devices does not exceed 2.1A. Try charging fewer devices simultaneously or a single device to confirm functionality.

Unit feels loose on the desk

Re-tighten the mounting clamps. Ensure the surface is flat and stable. If clamps are damaged, contact customer support.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Neatly organizes power and charging ports on a desk or bench.
  • Reduces visual clutter from excessive cables and floor extensions.
  • Provides convenient access to both UK mains sockets and USB charging.
  • Durable construction suitable for professional environments.
  • Easy to install and reposition with included mounting clamps.

Cons

  • The two USB ports share a total output of 2.1A, meaning simultaneous charging of high-power devices might be slow.
  • Requires a surface to mount onto, not suitable for free-standing use.
  • Primarily designed for horizontal mounting, limiting placement options.
  • White colour might not match all desk aesthetics.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup:

  1. Identify a suitable flat surface on your desk or bench.
  2. Use the provided desktop fixing clamps to secure the PDU horizontally. Ensure the clamps are tightened sufficiently but do not overtighten to avoid damaging the surface.
  3. Plug the 1.8-meter UK power cord into a standard wall socket.

Compatibility:

  • The UK mains sockets are compatible with standard UK plugs.
  • The USB ports are compatible with devices requiring 5V charging, up to a total of 2.1A.

Care:

  • To clean, disconnect the power cord from the wall socket.
  • Wipe the unit with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Ensure the unit is completely dry before reconnecting to power.
