FAQs
Can I use this doormat outdoors?
Yes, it is designed for outdoor use, but it should be placed in a sheltered area, such as under a porch or awning, to maintain the product's lifespan.
How do I clean the Scion Mr Fox Doormat?
Regularly shake the mat outside or use a vacuum cleaner to remove dirt trapped in the fibers. Spot clean with a damp cloth if necessary, but avoid soaking.
Is the backing safe for wood floors?
Yes, the eco-friendly latex backing is generally safe for wood floors, but ensure both the mat and the floor are kept dry to prevent any trapped moisture.
What are the dimensions of the mat?
The mat measures approximately 45 x 75 cm.
Will the mat work for trapping snow and heavy mud?
It is excellent for scraping off dirt and debris. However, if it becomes saturated with heavy snow or mud, it should be brought inside or placed in a dry area to drain.
Troubleshooting
The mat is sliding on my smooth floor surface.
Ensure the floor is clean and dry. If it continues to slide, ensure the mat is positioned on a flat, even surface; you may use a rug pad if the floor is exceptionally slippery.
The mat is shedding fibers.
Shedding is common with new natural coir mats. Regular gentle vacuuming or shaking will help remove loose fibers and minimize this over time.
The design is beginning to fade.
Ensure the mat is placed in a sheltered area away from direct sunlight and excessive rainfall to protect the print.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Highly effective at scrubbing dirt and debris from footwear
- Distinctive, eye-catching design adds personality to entryways
- Sturdy latex backing prevents sliding on smooth surfaces
- Natural material composition is both durable and eco-friendly
Cons
- Best performance limited to sheltered, outdoor-covered areas
- Natural coir fibers may shed slightly, especially when new
- Design printing may fade if exposed to direct, heavy rain or harsh UV light
Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setting up your Scion Mr Fox Doormat is straightforward; simply place it on a flat, dry surface where you experience the most foot traffic. The latex backing is compatible with most flooring types, including wood, tile, and concrete. To care for your mat and keep it looking fresh, regularly shake it out or vacuum it gently to remove accumulated debris. Avoid using harsh chemical cleaners, as these can damage the printed design or the natural fibers. If the mat becomes wet, lift it and allow the underside to air dry completely to prevent trapped moisture from damaging your floor finish.
