FAQs

Is this compatible with all Yale door locks?

This Lockmaster latch keep is designed as a replacement for specific Yale Centre Latch Keep mechanisms. It is essential to confirm that your existing lock uses this type of centre latch keep for proper compatibility.

Do I need any special tools to install this?

In many cases, this latch keep can be replaced quickly without specialized tools. You may only need a screwdriver to remove and re-insert the mounting screws of the old part.

How quickly can I replace the latch keep?

The design aims for a very quick replacement, often taking just a few minutes once the old part is removed, depending on screw accessibility.

What if my door latch is still not working after replacement?

If the latch still doesn't function correctly, the issue might lie with the door's latch bolt, the gearbox, or the main lock mechanism itself, rather than the centre latch keep.

Where is the 'centre latch keep' located on my door?

The centre latch keep is typically located on the edge of the door, near the middle, and is the part that the latch bolt from the door engages with when the door is closed.

What material is the latch keep made from?

While specific material details are not provided, these parts are generally made from durable metal alloys designed for door hardware.

Troubleshooting

Door latch does not engage after replacement

Verify the strike plate is correctly aligned with the door's latch bolt. Ensure no obstructions are present. Check that the correct OEM replacement part was used.

Latch is too stiff or difficult to operate

Slightly loosen the mounting screws for the strike plate, test the latch action, and then re-tighten the screws gradually while checking the operation. Ensure no debris is inside the mechanism.

Part does not fit correctly

Double-check that you have the correct Yale Centre Latch Keep model for this specific Lockmaster replacement. Incorrect alignment or model mismatch can cause fitting issues.
