Setup, Compatibility & Care
To begin, sow seeds in high-quality, free-draining seed compost. Keep the tray in a warm environment between 20-25°C (68-77°F) with access to light, as light is a trigger for germination. Once seedlings reach a handleable size, transplant them to 7.5cm pots.
Before moving your plants to their permanent home, you must 'harden them off'—a process of gradually exposing the plants to outdoor temperatures over a two-week period. Once established outdoors, space plants at least 45cm apart to ensure adequate airflow. Water them regularly, particularly during dry spells, and remember to remove spent blooms (deadhead) to prevent the plant from diverting energy into seed production, which keeps the flowering season long and vibrant.
