FAQs
Can I use these on heavy-duty canvas?
These are designed for standard groundsheets and banners; they may struggle to snap shut on extremely thick or rigid heavy-duty canvas.
Do I need a hammer or punch to install them?
No, these are entirely tool-free and are designed to be snapped together by hand.
Are these eyelets rust-proof?
Yes, because they are manufactured from high-quality plastic, they are completely immune to rust and corrosion.
Can I remove and reuse them?
Yes, if pried apart carefully, they can often be reused on other fabrics.
What is the internal diameter of the hole?
The eyelets create a standard-sized opening suitable for most common tent pegs, bungees, and zip ties.
Troubleshooting
Eyelet will not snap shut
Check that the fabric thickness is not too great. Try to reduce the number of folds in the fabric to allow the clip teeth to meet correctly.
Eyelet feels loose on the fabric
Ensure the fabric is folded over once to provide a thicker surface area for the teeth to grip, which improves the hold on thinner materials.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Tool-free installation process
- Completely rust-proof material
- Excellent for repairing damaged tarp holes
- Lightweight and compact for transport
- Reusable across different fabric types
Cons
- Not suitable for heavy-duty industrial anchoring
- Plastic may crack under extreme over-tightening
- Limited to fabric thicknesses compatible with the clip gap
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To install, align the two pieces of the eyelet on either side of the fabric at the desired location. Press the components firmly together until you hear or feel a positive 'click' locking them into place. Ensure the fabric is pulled taut before finalizing the closure to avoid slippage. These are compatible with most standard groundsheet materials, tarpaulins, and vinyl banners. For care, simply wipe down with a damp cloth if they become soiled during use. Store them in a dry, cool place inside your camping gear container to maintain the plastic's integrity over long-term storage.
