The Scotia Beading - Brown is designed for DIY enthusiasts and flooring professionals looking to achieve a polished finish on laminate, engineered, or solid wood floors. Its primary benefit is the ability to elegantly conceal unsightly expansion gaps around the floor perimeter while allowing for natural material movement. Please note that while the low-profile design is aesthetic, it requires precise mitre cuts at corners to achieve a truly seamless, professional result.

No. You must always fix the beading to the skirting board or wall to allow the floor to expand and contract freely underneath.
You will need a tape measure, a pencil, a fine-toothed saw, a mitre block, and either panel pins or a strong adhesive.
Scotia is specifically designed for laminate, engineered, and solid wood floors. It is not typically recommended for tiled installations.
Use a scrap piece to test the angle first, or use a profile gauge to copy the angle before making your final cut.
While the surface is finished, you can lightly sand and paint it if you wish to change the color, though matching the factory finish is usually preferred.
Check if the skirting board or wall is uneven; you may need to use a flexible decorator's caulk to fill small gaps.
Use a sharp, fine-toothed saw and a high-quality mitre block to ensure the angles are precise at exactly 45 degrees.
To install, measure your wall perimeters accurately and use a mitre block and fine-toothed saw to cut the beading at 45-degree angles for external and internal corners. Attach the beading using small nails or a suitable contact adhesive applied directly to the skirting board. Always ensure the floor can move underneath the beading; never nail through the flooring itself. For care, simply wipe down the surface with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or excessive water, as these can damage the finish or cause the wood-based material to swell.
