Based upon true events during the Second World War, ‘The Great Escape’ tells the incredible story of the inmates of the German Prisoner of War camp Stalag Luft III, a maximum-security prison built to contain captured Allied Air Force personnel who had consistently escaped other less secure facilities. Intent on escaping while simultaneously diverting critical German resources away from the frontlines, the POWs audaciously tunnel beneath the fences of the camp towards the forest beyond, and then flee for freedom. Among the 76 POWs to make it out is Captain Virgil Hilts, otherwise known as ‘The Cooler King’, a frequent escapk. In the Great Escape, after escaping the maximum-security unit at Stalag Luft III, prisoner of war Captain Virgil Hilts steals a German army motorcycle and makes his bid for freedom. The modified Triumph TR6 races to the Swiss border with German soldiers in pursuit. This collection includes a detailed model of a classic Triumph TR6 Trophy motorbike, accurately painted and scaled. Our models showcase a range of traditional and modern designs, perfect as bike gifts for men. Celebrating the 60th anniversary of one of the greatest motorcycle chases ever created in film, our Great Escape Triumph TR6 Trophy is an almost exact replica of that famous bike. The actual motorcycle now sits in the Triumph Motorcycles Factory Visitor Experience in Hinckley, but our 1:12 scale die-cast representation is a must-have for fans of the epic war film. Known for their superior craftsmanship and durability, featuring authentic details and vibrant paintwork, these diecast model cars are perfect for collectors, as display pieces and excellent as toy buses for boys. Established in 1956, the Corgi brand is synonymous with quality and nostalgia, offering a wide range of die cast model cars and vehicles that capture the spirit of British motoring and aviation heritage.
