Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Cleanse the wound according to standard clinical practice.
- Select the appropriate size of Mepitel One.
- Remove the protective backing film, ensuring the shiny side is facing upwards and will be in contact with the wound.
- Apply Mepitel One directly onto the wound bed.
- Cover Mepitel One with a suitable secondary dressing (e.g., absorbent pad, gauze, or film dressing) to manage exudate and secure the dressing.
Compatibility:
Mepitel One is compatible with a wide range of secondary dressings, including absorbent pads, traditional gauze, alginates, hydrocolloids, and transparent film dressings. It can also be used in conjunction with topical medications or negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) systems, where it serves as a protective interface.
Care:
- Mepitel One itself does not require specific cleaning once applied.
- Inspect the secondary dressing regularly and change it as needed based on exudate levels.
- Mepitel One can typically remain in place for several days (up to 7 days) or until the secondary dressing needs changing, provided it remains intact and the wound condition allows.
- To remove Mepitel One, gently lift an edge and slowly peel it back from the skin. The Safetac technology ensures minimal disturbance to the wound.
