Product Information

Full details

The Profoto 50 Degree RFi Softgrid for the 150cm Octagonal Softbox is designed for professional photographers who require precise control over their light spill and directionality. By narrowing the light output to a 50-degree beam, it allows for targeted illumination, making it an ideal choice for portraiture and high-end product photography. While it significantly enhances light shaping capabilities, users should note that it requires an existing RFi 150cm Octa Softbox, as it is a specialized attachment rather than a standalone light modifier.

FAQs

Can I use this grid with other softbox brands?

The RFi Softgrid is specifically engineered for the Profoto RFi series of softboxes and may not provide a secure fit for other brands.

Does the grid change the color temperature of the light?

No, the high-quality fabric is neutral and will not affect the color temperature of your flash.

How do I store the grid to prevent damage?

Fold it gently following its natural lines and store it in the included labeled pouch to avoid creasing or snagging.

Will this grid work on a 120cm Octa?

No, this specific model is designed for the 150cm version. You would need the dedicated grid for the 120cm or 90cm versions.

Is the grid washable?

It is recommended to clean the fabric with a dry brush or a slightly damp, lint-free cloth. Avoid submerging in water or using harsh detergents.

Troubleshooting

The grid appears saggy or uneven.

Ensure the Velcro is properly aligned and pulled tight against the perimeter of the softbox front.

Difficulty attaching to the softbox.

Check that your softbox is an RFi series 150cm Octa, as other sizes or brands may not align with the attachment points.

Pros and Cons

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup is straightforward due to the recessed design of the Profoto RFi Softbox series. Simply align the Velcro edges of the grid with the corresponding strip inside the front of your 150cm Octa softbox and press firmly to secure. Ensure the grid is pulled taut across the front of the softbox to prevent sagging, which can affect the light beam angle.

Compatibility is limited to the Profoto RFi 150cm Octa softbox model. To care for your grid, always brush off any dust after a shoot. If the fabric becomes wrinkled, avoid using heat; instead, lay it flat for a short duration or gently steam if necessary. Always store the grid in the provided soft pouch when not in use to maintain its structural shape.
