Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Measure and cut the housing to the appropriate length for your frame, ensuring smooth curves without kinks. Use a sharp cable/housing cutter for a clean cut.
- Slide the end caps onto the cut housing ends.
- Thread the stainless steel cable through the shifter, then through the SP41 housing and any frame guides.
- Attach the cable to your rear derailleur.
- Adjust derailleur limit screws and cable tension for precise shifting.
- Crimp the end of the cable with one of the provided crimps to prevent fraying.
Compatibility:
This set is designed for Shimano and compatible road bike derailleur systems. Ensure your shifters and derailleurs are designed for this cable and housing size (1.2mm cable, 4mm housing).
Care:
While stainless steel cables are durable, regular cleaning of your drivetrain is recommended. Periodically inspect the housing for damage or wear. Re-greasing may be necessary for extended longevity, though the initial factory grease is designed for long-term use.
