Product Information
Full details
The Fox Defend Thermo MTB Gloves are designed for young riders who need reliable hand protection during cold-weather mountain biking. These gloves excel at keeping hands warm and maintaining bike control through an insulated design and a high-grip palm, though the specialized insulation may be too warm for mild or late-spring trail riding conditions.

FAQs
Are these gloves waterproof?
They feature weather-resistant materials to seal out the elements, but they are designed primarily for insulation and wind protection rather than full waterproofing.
Can I machine wash these?
We recommend hand washing to prevent damage to the conductive palm material and the insulating foam.
What is the sizing for youth riders?
These gloves are specifically cut for youth hands; consult the size chart based on your child's palm width and finger length.
Do they provide impact protection?
They are primarily thermal gloves; while they offer some abrasion resistance from the Clarino palm, they are not armor-rated for impacts.
Will they work with all touch screen devices?
Yes, the conductive material is designed to work with standard capacitive touch screens found on most modern smartphones and bike computers.
Troubleshooting
Touch screen responsiveness is inconsistent
Ensure the palm is clean and the fabric is pulled taut across your finger; dirty or oily fingertips can impede touch functionality.
Gloves feel too bulky for shifting
Ensure the compression cuff is tightened properly to shift the glove material closer to your wrist, improving hand articulation.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Excellent insulation against cold weather
- Touch screen compatible palm material
- Secure cuff system keeps out drafts
- Superior bar feel despite added insulation
Cons
- Not suitable for hot weather use
- Specific orange color may not match all kits
- Limited to youth-specific sizing
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure the longevity of your gloves, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Fit: Tighten the hook and loop closure only until the glove is snug; over-tightening can restrict circulation.
- Cleaning: Hand wash in cold water using a mild detergent to preserve the conductive properties of the palm fabric.
- Drying: Air dry only. Avoid tumble drying or direct heat sources as this can degrade the foam insulation and silicone grips.
- Compatibility: The conductive palm works with most modern smartphones, but ensure your screen protector is thin to maintain optimal sensitivity.
