Product Information

Full details

Designed specifically for dedicated carp anglers, the Fox Edges Naturals Hook Silicone is an essential terminal tackle component that helps refine rig mechanics by trapping the hair tight against the hook shank for superior hooking potential. Its primary benefit is the increased control over hair exit points, ensuring more consistent bait presentation; however, users should note that the silicone requires precise cutting to match the specific hook sizes being utilized.

FAQs

Can this be used on hooks smaller than size 8?

Yes, but you may need to stretch the tubing slightly or ensure you are using very thin sections to maintain a snug fit.

How much comes in a pack?

Each pack contains 1.5 meters of hook silicone.

Is this product reusable?

While the tubing can be moved, it is recommended to cut a fresh piece for each new hook to ensure optimal grip and presentation.

What is the benefit of the 'Naturals' color?

The Naturals dark green color is designed to be low-visibility, blending into the lake bed to avoid spooking cautious carp.

Can I use this with braided line?

Yes, it is fully compatible with all common carp fishing hooklink materials, including braid, monofilament, and fluorocarbon.

Troubleshooting

Silicone is difficult to slide onto the hook shank.

Apply a tiny amount of saliva or water to the hook shank to lubricate the surface before sliding the silicone on.

The tubing keeps sliding down during the cast.

Ensure you are using a small enough length of tubing and that your hook shank is clean and free of oil or debris before application.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Excellent camouflage on the lake bed
Improves hook-up efficiency by managing hair position
Durable enough to withstand repeated casting
Generous 1.5m supply offers great long-term value

Cons

Requires manual cutting to specific lengths
Can be tight to slide onto larger gauge hooks
Naturals color may be less visible in extremely dark, silty conditions

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To apply the silicone, use a baiting needle or carefully slide the tubing over the eye of the hook and down the shank. It is compatible with most standard carp hooks, though it works best with sizes ranging from 2 to 8. For maintenance, keep the silicone away from harsh solvents or extreme heat, which can degrade the material's elasticity. After a session, ensure the hook shank is dry before storage to prevent any buildup that could affect the grip of the silicone.
