Setup, Compatibility & Care
To begin, ensure your planting site receives full sun to partial shade for optimal blooming. When potting or transplanting from the 9cm container, use a standard aquatic soil mix.
- Placement: Set the pot on a pond shelf where the water line is at the base of the plant or no more than 5cm deep.
- Soil: If planting in soil, keep the ground consistently damp to prevent wilting.
- Maintenance: Trim back the foliage in late autumn if the plant becomes dormant or overgrown to encourage fresh growth the following spring.
- Compatibility: Pairs well with other moisture-loving marginals like Irises or Sedges, but ensure the Mentha is not crowded so it has room to form its signature spreading clump.
