The Indian Banyan Tree, also known as Ficus benghalensis, is an evergreen tree that can be easily cultivated as a pot plant. The seeds of the Banyan Tree are usually eaten by birds and then released undigested, allowing them to attach to branches of other trees and germinate. Over time, it develops aerial roots that reach the ground, providing additional nutrients and eventually covering the host tree. The tree is not frost-resistant and should be kept in a bright, warm place during winter, ideally away from a heater. The tree can be propagated by seeds, which can be sown on moist potting soil and covered with clear film to prevent drying. Water the plant every five to seven days and provide liquid fertilizer monthly after about six months of planting.
