Product Information

Full details

The Insta360 Luna Ultra Black Mist Filter is designed for videographers and content creators who want to achieve a soft, cinematic aesthetic directly in-camera. Its primary benefit is the reduction of harsh digital sharpness and the creation of a subtle, dreamlike glow around light sources, perfect for portraits and night cinematography. However, users should be aware that because this filter permanently softens the image, it cannot be reversed in post-production if a tack-sharp look is required for a specific scene.

FAQs

Does this filter affect autofocus?

No, the filter does not interfere with the camera's autofocus mechanism as it is purely an optical diffusion layer.

Can I stack this with other filters?

Stacking filters is generally not recommended as it may lead to vignetting or loss of image clarity.

Is the filter water-resistant?

While the filter can withstand light mist, it is not waterproof. Dry the filter thoroughly if it gets wet.

Will this filter work for still photography?

Yes, it produces the same soft, atmospheric glow for still photos as it does for video.

How do I know if it's securely attached?

You should feel a positive 'snap' when the magnets engage. Give it a gentle tap to ensure it is seated flush.

Troubleshooting

Filter is loose or falls off

Ensure the magnetic ring on the lens is free of debris or dust, which can prevent a full magnetic seal.

Image appears too blurry

The filter is designed for a soft look. Ensure your camera's autofocus is locked correctly and verify there are no fingerprints or smudges on the glass.

Light flares look excessive

Adjust your shooting angle relative to the light source to minimize direct lens flare, which the mist filter may amplify.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Reduces digital over-sharpening for a more organic look
Magnetic mount allows for rapid transitions between shots
Softens skin tones, ideal for vlogging and portrait interviews
Enhances night scenes by blooming light sources

Cons

Effect cannot be adjusted or removed in post-editing
May slightly reduce contrast in high-glare environments
Not suitable for applications requiring maximum surgical sharpness

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To install the filter, simply align it with the front of your compatible Insta360 lens; the magnetic ring will snap it into place securely. No screws or threading are required.

Compatibility: This filter is designed specifically for compatible Insta360 action cameras equipped with the magnetic mounting interface. Always verify your specific camera model compatibility before purchase.

Care Instructions: Keep the glass surface clean using a dedicated microfiber lens cloth. Avoid touching the glass with bare fingers, as oils can cause unwanted streaks in the glow effect. Store the filter in a protective hard case when not in use to prevent scratching the optical surface.
