Setup, Compatibility & Care
To install the handle, first remove the old, broken shaft remnants from the hoe eye. You may need to shave the end of the new handle using a rasp or sandpaper to achieve a snug 'friction fit.' Once the head is positioned, use a metal wedge to secure it firmly. To maximize the lifespan of your handle, avoid leaving it submerged in standing water or exposed to extreme heat for prolonged periods. Occasionally applying linseed oil to the wood can prevent cracking and maintain the material's flexibility over several seasons.
