Permatex High-Strength Threadlocker Red is designed for professional mechanics and automotive enthusiasts who require a permanent, vibration-proof seal on heavy-duty assemblies. It excels in securing studs and press fits ranging from 3/8 inch to 1 inch, offering a robust 3,000 PSI of holding power. While it is an excellent alternative to mechanical fasteners like snap rings and set screws, users should be aware that the high-strength permanent bond typically necessitates localized heat or specialized tools for future disassembly.

This product is formulated for 3/8 inch to 1 inch fasteners; using it on smaller screws may make them impossible to remove without damaging the surrounding material.
Yes, but it is considered a permanent threadlocker. You will likely need to use heat or specialized heavy-duty tools to break the bond.
No, this product is designed for metal-to-metal contact and may damage or fail to bond properly with plastics.
While it sets quickly, full cure strength typically occurs within 24 hours depending on the ambient temperature and material types.
For best results, apply the product to the male threads (the bolt) before inserting it into the tapped hole.
Apply direct heat to the bolt or stud to soften the cured threadlocker, then use hand tools while the part is still warm.
Ensure that the surfaces were completely clean and free of oil or grease, and verify that the gap between threads is within the manufacturer's specified tolerance.
To ensure proper bonding, always verify that the threads are free of dirt and lubricants before application. Apply sparingly, as excess liquid can migrate and bond parts you did not intend to seal.
Because this is a high-strength formula, you cannot remove it with standard hand tools alone. To disassemble, apply localized heat (typically 500°F/260°C or higher) to the fastener to break the chemical bond, then use appropriate wrenches while the assembly is warm.
